CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Malone College first baseman Todd Neice (Waynesburg, OH; Sandy Valley H.S.) and Tiffin University pitcher Matt Reiter (Fostoria, OH; St. Wendelin H.S.) are the AMC baseball Players of the Week.

Neice, a sophomore lefthanded batter, led Malone to a 4-0 week by hitting .643 with one home run and four RBI's. He recorded nine hits in 14 at bats with seven runs scored, a double, and a triple.

Reiter, a junior righthander, tossed a complete game in a 7-1 win over Saint Vincent. He allowed an unearned run on four hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

Justin Brown, Urbana University (position)
Brian Melnyk, Point Park College (pitcher)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Urbana University designated hitter Justin Brown (Chillicothe, OH; Chillicothe H.S.) and Point Park College pitcher Brian Melnyk (Colliers, WV; Brooke H.S.) have been selected Players of the Week in AMC baseball.

Brown, a junior lefthanded batter, hit .682 during Urbana's 5-3 week. In seven games played, he recorded 15 hits in 22 at bats with three doubles, a triple, nine runs scored, eight RBI's, and seven walks. Brown hit safely in every contest and had five multi-hit games.

Melnyk, a junior lefthander, helped Point Park extend their winning streak to eight straight by pitching a complete-game, 12-3 victory at NAIA No. 21 Shawnee State. He allowed four hits and struck out 12 to improve his record to 7-0.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican College third baseman Wilfredo Colon (Cidra, Puerto Rico; Ana Jacoba Candelas H.S.) and Geneva College pitcher Jeremy Orosz (Export, PA; Franklin Regional H.S.) have been named the AMC baseball Players of the Week.

Colon, a sophomore righthanded batter, hit .615 to lead ODC to a 3-1 week. He was 8-for-13 at the plate with seven runs scored, three doubles, two triples, and nine runs batted in.

Orosz, a freshman righthander, improved his record to 5-2 with a complete-game, 4-1 win against Rio Grande. He allowed an earned run on five hits with 12 strikeouts and no walks.

Jared Dever, Malone College (position)
Ryan Jones, Urbana University (pitcher)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Malone College first baseman Jared Dever (Minford, OH; Minford H.S.) and Urbana University pitcher Ryan Jones (Batavia, OH; Batavia H.S.) are the AMC baseball Players of the Week.

Dever, a 6-foot-1 senior, batted .714 with four home runs and eight RBI's in four games for Malone which included a split with NAIA No. 11 Shawnee State. He was 10-for-14 at the plate with two doubles, nine runs scored, two steals, and a 1.714 slugging percentage. Dever, who hit safely in all four games with two three-hit efforts and a pair of two-hit performances, homered and drove in at least one run in all four games. His 13 home runs ties the single-season school record he set last year.

Jones, a 6-foot-3 junior righthander, tossed a complete game in a 1-0 victory against Geneva. He allowed six hits with five strikeouts and two walks for the Blue Knights.

Brian Bachman, Shawnee State University (position)
Brian Jackowski, Saint Vincent College (pitcher)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Shawnee State University outfielder Brian Bachman (Cincinnati, OH; Elder H.S.) and Saint Vincent College pitcher Brian Jackowski (Glassport, PA; South Allegheny H.S.) are the AMC baseball Players of the Week. Jackowski was also named the NAIA National Pitcher of the Week.

Bachman, a sophomore lefthanded batter, hit .500 with three home runs, two of which were grand slams, and 15 RBI's in four games for Shawnee State. He was 7-for-14 at the plate with three runs scored, two steals, and five walks. Bachman had a 1.143 slugging percentage for the week.

Jackowski, a sophomore righthander, threw back-to-back, complete-game 1-0 victories for Saint Vincent over NCAA Division II Pitt-Johnstown and AMC foe Urbana. In 14 innings pitched, he allowed nine hits with eight strikeouts and three walks.

(Week of March 26 - April 1)
Ryan Bishop, Malone College (position)
Nick Roberts, Urbana University (pitcher)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Malone College outfielder Ryan Bishop (Shelby, OH; Shelby H.S.) and Urbana University pitcher Nick Roberts (Marysville, OH; Marysville H.S.) have been named the AMC baseball Players of the Week.

Bishop, a senior lefthanded batter, hit .583 with three home runs and nine RBI's to lead Malone to a 3-1 week in AMC play. He was 7-for-12 at the plate with two doubles and six runs scored. Bishop hit safely in all four games and posted a 1.500 slugging percentage.

Roberts, a sophomore righthander, was 2-0 for the week with a 4.83 ERA. He registered a win in relief during a 7-6 victory against Tiffin. He also tossed a complete game with ten strikeouts in a 6-4 decision over Walsh.

Joel Laslo, Mount Vernon Nazarene College (position)
Chris Holly, Ohio Dominican College (pitcher)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene College outfielder Joel Laslo (Mount Vernon, OH; Mount Vernon H.S.) and Ohio Dominican College pitcher Chris Holly (Sunbury, OH; Big Walnut H.S.) are the AMC baseball Players of the Week.

Laslo, a senior righthanded batter, hit .625 to pace MVNC to a 6-2 week which included a victory over NCAA Division III No. 2 St. Thomas MN. He was 15-for-24 at the plate with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, and nine RBI's. Laslo scored six runs, hit safely in all eight games including three three-hit performances, and racked up a 1.042 slugging percentage.

Holly, a junior righthander, was 2-0 with a 0.74 ERA in a pair of AMC victories. In 12 1/3 innings, he allowed one earned run on seven hits with seven strikeouts and five walks. Holly tossed a one-hitter in a 6-0 decision over Urbana and earlier picked up a win over Point Park.

Scott Crawford, Mount Vernon Nazarene College (position)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene College teammates Scott Crawford (Prospect, OH; River Valley H.S.) and Adam Rowe (Wooster, OH; Wooster H.S.) are the first AMC baseball Players of the Week for the 2001 season.

Crawford, a junior shortstop, led the Cougars to a 5-1 start by hitting .579 with a double, a triple, two home runs, and 13 runs batted in. He hit safely in all six games by going 11-for-19 at the plate with 13 runs scored. Crawford, who sat out the entire 2000 season with a torn ACL, posted five two-hit games and also stole two bases.

Rowe, a freshman lefthander, made his collegiate debut by striking out 12 batters in a 9-2 complete-game victory over Illinois Tech. He walked just one and allowed two earned runs on six hits.
