CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Walsh University third baseman Katie Foltz (Minerva, OH; Minerva H.S.) and Shawnee State University pitcher Erica Brickey (Portsmouth, OH; West Portsmouth H.S.) have been named the AMC softball Players of the Week.

Foltz, a freshman righthanded batter, hit .750 in three games for Walsh. She was 6-for-8 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, three runs scored, and four RBI's. Foltz had two hits in all three games and posted a 1.625 slugging percentage.

Brickey, a freshman righthander, earned the pitching honor for the second straight week. She was 3-0 with a 0.86 ERA as Shawnee State rallied to tie Ohio Dominican for a share of the AMC title. Brickey allowed two earned runs in 21.0 innings with 17 strikeouts and five walks.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Urbana University outfielder Tiffany Trainer (Indian Lake, OH; Indian Lake H.S.) and Shawnee State University pitcher Erica Brickey (Portsmouth, OH; West Portsmouth H.S.) are the AMC softball Players of the Week.

Trainer, a freshman righthanded batter, paced Urbana to an 8-0 week in AMC play by hitting .417 with two home runs and seven RBI's. She had 10 hits in 24 at bats which included three doubles and six runs scored. The Blue Knights swept road doubleheaders at Mount Vernon Nazarene, Walsh, and Saint Vincent while beating Rio Grande at home.

Brickey, a freshman righthander, went 2-0 with back-to-back shutouts. Her highlight was a six-inning no-hitter against Notre Dame. In 13 innings pitched, she allowed five hits with 20 strikeouts and just two walks.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Geneva College catcher Mandi Cwynar (Monaca, PA; Center H.S.) and Ohio Dominican College pitcher Melissa Wright (Pickerington, OH; Pickerington H.S.) are the AMC softball Players of the Week.

Cwynar, a freshman lefthanded batter, went 5-for-6 in a twinbill sweep at NAIA No. 17 Ohio Dominican. She had three doubles, five RBI's, and threw out five base stealers. Cwynar's bases loaded double in the opener paved the way to a 7-6 win over the Panthers, who entered the game unbeaten in the AMC.

Wright, a junior righthander, was 3-1 on the mound with a 0.79 ERA. She tossed a six-inning perfect game against Rio Grande, blanked Tiffin on a three-hitter, and came on in relief to beat Walsh. Wright allowed two earned runs in 17 2/3 innings with 11 strikeouts and one walk.

Megan Petersen, Cedarville University (pitcher)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Tiffin University outfielder Lori Bumb (Attica, OH; Seneca East H.S.) and Cedarville University pitcher Megan Petersen (Northridge, CA; Los Angeles Baptist H.S.) have been selected the AMC softball Players of the Week.

Bumb, a 5-foot-6 junior, paced Tiffin to a 5-1 week against AMC competition by hitting .500 with five runs scored and six RBI's. She recorded 11 hits in 22 at bats which included a double and three stolen bases.

Petersen, a 5-foot-9 senior righthander, went 2-0 on the mound with a 0.44 ERA. She tossed a two-hitter and struck out 10 batters in an 8-0 win over Notre Dame. Petersen closed her week by fanning a career-high 19 in a complete-game 6-4 victory in 10 innings against Urbana.

(Week of April 2-8)
Amanda Schumm, Mount Vernon Nazarene College (position)
Tara Hines, Mount Vernon Nazarene College (pitcher)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene College teammates Amanda Schumm (Rockford, OH; Parkway H.S.) and Tara Hines (Marion, OH; Harding H.S.) have been named the AMC softball Players of the Week. The twosome helped the Cougars extend their winning streak to 10 straight with a 4-0 week.

Schumm, a junior third baseman, batted .643 by hitting safely in all four games which included a pair of three-hit performances. She was 9-for-14 at the plate with a double, a triple, three runs scored, and six RBI's. Shumm posted an .857 slugging percentage and handled 17 fielding chances with a .941 accuracy.

Hines, a senior righthander, was 2-0 with one save on the mound. She did not allow an earned run in 15 innings pitched and did not walk a batter. Hines struck out 15, including a career-high nine in an AMC win over Notre Dame, and hurled her third straight shutout in a 7-0 win against Kenyon.

(Week of March 26 - April 1)
Natalie Wallace, Mount Vernon Nazarene College (position)
Jaime Aeschlimann, Walsh University (pitcher)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene College outfielder Natalie Wallace (Newark, OH; Utica H.S.) and Walsh University pitcher Jaime Aeschlimann (Brewster, OH; Tuslaw H.S.) are the AMC women's softball Players of the Week.

Wallace, a 5-foot-8 senior, paced MVNC to a 6-0 week against conference opponents by hitting .588 with a double, a triple, a home run, and 10 RBI's. She hit safely in all six games and drove in at least one run in each contest. Wallace did not commit an error in the field and had three game-winning RBI's.

Aeschlimann, a sophomore righthander, posted a 3-0 record against AMC opposition with a 0.44 ERA during Walsh's 6-0 week. She allowed one earned run on ten hits in 16 innings with 15 strikeouts for an average of 6.56 K's per 7 innings. Aeschlimann tossed a complete-game one-hitter and fanned 10 batters against Saint Vincent.

Erica Exler, Geneva College (pitcher)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Walsh University centerfielder Shannon Kohl (Austintown, OH; Austintown Fitch H.S.) and Geneva College pitcher Erica Exler (Cheswick, PA; Springdale H.S.) have been selected the AMC softball Players of the Week.

Kohl, a sophomore lefthanded batter, hit .571 to pace Walsh to a 5-4 week. She recorded 16 hits in 28 at bats with a double, a triple, and one home run. She scored nine runs, had four RBI's, and was a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases.

Exler, a junior righthander, earned the pitching honor for the second straight week. She posted a win and a save in a twinbill sweep of two-time defending AMC champion Walsh. Exler tossed a three-hitter and struck out nine in a 3-2 complete-game victory before hurling the final inning of a 1-0 win in the nightcap. She did not allow an earned run in her two appearances with ten strikeouts total and no walks.

(Week of March 12-18)
Natalie May, Ohio Dominican College (position)
Erica Exler, Geneva College (pitcher)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican College second baseman Natalie May (Canal Winchester, OH; Canal Winchester H.S.) and Geneva College pitcher Erica Exler (Cheswick, PA; Springdale H.S.) are the first Players of the Week in AMC softball this spring.

May, a 5-foot-5 sophomore, batted .500 to lead ODC to a doubleheader sweep over Columbus rival Capital by identical 4-3 scores. She was 3-for-6 at the plate with two runs scored, two RBI's, and three stolen bases in three attempts.

Exler, a 5-foot-9 righthanded throwing junior, was 2-3 for the week with a 0.87 ERA. She opened the season with her third career no-hitter and 10 strikeouts in a 2-1 victory over Stockton. Exler also defeated Wisconsin-Stout, 6-4. She averaged 7.90 strikeouts per seven innings and allowed just six walks total. Two of her losses were by 1-0 scores and she also dropped a 2-1 decision.
