CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Simon Carey, a rookie forward from conference and NAIA Region IX men's soccer champion Rio Grande, has been voted the AMC Player of the Year and AMC Freshman of the Year in voting by the league's coaches. Redmen head coach Scott Morrissey was tabbed AMC Coach of the Year. The first-ever Fair Play Award, recognizing fair play and sportsmanship on the field of competition, was presented to Wilberforce University.

Carey, who is from Preston, England, netted 37 goals with six assists for the Redmen. Rio Grande, 23-1-1, advanced to the NAIA national semifinals before being eliminated, 2-1, by eventual national champion Lindsey Wilson KY.
