CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene teammates Justin Clarey (Columbus, OH; Hilliard Darby H.S.) and Adam Rowe (Wooster, OH; Wooster H.S.) have been selected the AMC baseball Players of the Week. They paced the Cougars to a 3-0 week and into the championship round of the NAIA Region IX Tournament.

Clarey, a junior catcher, was 6-for-11 at the plate for a .545 batting average. He had two doubles, one walk, and three RBI's.

Rowe, a junior lefthander, pitched a complete game in a 2-0 victory over Tiffin in the tournament opener. In nine innings pitched, he allowed four hits with 11 strikeouts and four walks.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Ohio Dominican outfielder Jeff Kidd (Gahanna, OH; St. Francis DeSales H.S.) and Cedarville pitcher T.J. Couch (Belleville, MI; Calvary Christian H.S.) are the AMC baseball Players of the Week.

Kidd, a six-foot junior, batted .533 with two doubles and five RBI's to lead the NAIA No. 18 Panthers to a 3-1 week and the South Division title. He had eight hits in 15 at bats, scored six runs, and stole five bases in five attempts.

Couch, a junior righthander, was 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA while pacing Cedarville to a 4-1 week and the NCCAA Midwest Region championship. Both wins came against NAIA No. 14 Spring Arbor including a one-hit, 5-0 shutout while the other was in relief. In nine innings pitched, Couch allowed three earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and four walks.

Mount Vernon Nazarene teammates Tim Martini (Galena, OH; Olentangy H.S.) and Jon Barchus (Crestline, OH; Mansfield Christian H.S.) have been named the AMC baseball Players of the Week. They guided the Cougars to a 6-2 week and into first place in the AMC North Division.

Martini, a sophomore outfielder, batted .481 with five doubles, a home run, six RBI's, and 10 runs scored. He had 13 hits in 27 at bats hitting safely in his final seven games.

Barchus, a junior righthander, earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the third time in six weeks. He was 2-0 with a save and a 2.40 ERA. Barchus allowed four earned runs in 15 innings with 24 strikeouts and just one walk. The save set a career school record with 13.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Ohio Dominican's Derrick Wright (Hilliard, OH) and Chris Ofat (Bellaire, OH; Bellaire H.S.) are the AMC baseball Players of the Week after leading the Panthers to a 5-0 week.

Wright, a senior third baseman, batted .556 with a double, triple, home run, and six RBI's. He recorded 10 hits in 18 at bats with seven runs scored. Wright hit safely in all five games including a pair of three-hit performances.

Ofat, a junior righthanded pitcher, posted a win and a save in two scoreless outings. He saved a 6-4 win against Rio Grande and tossed a complete-game 7-0 victory over Urbana. Ofat allowed three hits in 8.0 innings with 10 strikeouts and two walks.

Zach Kooker, Malone College (player)
Jon Barchus, Mount Vernon Nazarene University (pitcher)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Malone third baseman Zach Kooker (Apple Creek, OH; Kidron Central Christian H.S.) and Mount Vernon Nazarene pitcher Jon Barchus (Crestline, OH; Mansfield Christian H.S.) have been selected the AMC baseball Players of the Week. They also swept NAIA National Player of the Week honors.

Kooker, a junior righthand hitter, led Malone to a 4-0 week in AMC North Division play by hitting .625 with five home runs and 11 RBI's. He recorded 10 hits in 16 at bats with a pair of doubles and eight runs scored in doubleheader sweeps over Mount Vernon Nazarene and Geneva.

Barchus, a junior righthander, was 2-0 on the mound in two scoreless appearances for MVNU. He tossed a complete-game one-hitter in a 1-0 victory over Walsh and then came on in relief to beat Saint Vincent, 5-4. Barchus allowed two hits total in 8 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts and four walks.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Tiffin outfielder Richard Leach (Port Lambton, ONT; St. Christopher H.S.) and Ohio Dominican pitcher Benny Cepeda (San Juan, Puerto Rico; Ramon Vila Mayo H.S.) have been named the AMC baseball Players of the Week.

Leach, a senior righthand hitter, guided the Dragons to a 6-1 week, including a 4-0 mark in the AMC South Division, by hitting .458. He had 11 hits in 24 at bats with a home run, five RBI's, and nine runs scored.

Cepeda, a sophomore righthander, was 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA. He tossed a complete-game 3-2 win over Bethel IN and then came on in relief to hand Shawnee State its first AMC loss, 2-1. For the week, he allowed two earned runs in 10 innings with seven strikeouts and four walks.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Ohio Dominican infielder Wilfredo Colon (Cidra, Puerto Rico; Ana Jacoba Candelas H.S.) and Mount Vernon Nazarene pitcher Jon Barchus (Crestline, OH; Mansfield Christian H.S.) have been named the AMC baseball Players of the Week.

Colon, a senior righthanded batter, hit .571 during ODU's 4-3 week with 12 hits in 21 at bats. He recorded two doubles, a triple, three homers, eight RBI's, and seven runs scored. Colon hit safely in all seven games and finished the week by reaching base his final 21 plate appearances in a row.

Barchus, a junior righthander, tossed a five-inning one-hitter to beat Thomas ME, 11-0. He fanned nine batters and walked one.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene infielder Ty Dendinger (Greenwich, OH; South Central H.S.) and Malone pitcher Dan Walker (Akron, OH; Ellet H.S.) are the AMC baseball Players of the Week.

Dendinger, a sophomore, who plays first or third base, batted .600 during the Cougars' 5-0 week. He was 9-for-15 at the plate with three doubles, a homer, six RBI's, and eight runs scored. Dendinger also handled 18 chances in the field without an error.

Walker, a freshman lefthander, limited Saint Vincent to two hits in a 1-0 North Division victory. He struck out seven and walked three in five innings of work for Malone.
