Leta Huntington, Malone College (offense)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Malone midfielder Leta Huntington (Cuyahoga Falls, OH) is the AMC women's soccer Player of the Week. She paced the Pioneers to a pair of victories and the NAIA Region IX championship.

Huntington, a 5-foot-6 senior, had a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win over Mount Vernon Nazarene in the semifinals. She also scored the first goal in a 2-0 title game victory over Tiffin and assisted on the other.

Casandra Mills, Houghton College (offense)
Laurie Franklin, Malone College (defense)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Houghton forward Casandra Mills (Fillmore, NY) and Malone goalkeeper Laurie Franklin (Prospect, KY) have been selected the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week. They paced their teams to wins in the AMC Qualifying Tournament.

Mills, a 5-foot-5 junior, scored two goals and assisted on three others of 6-0 decision versus Cedarville. She netted the first goal, handed out assists on the next three, and scored the final goal for the NAIA No. 8 Highlanders.

Franklin, a 5-7 junior, made six saves in Malone's 1-0 win against Saint Vincent. It was her 11th shutout of the season and she tied the school's all time record of 33 career shutouts.

Catherine Hess, Mount Vernon Nazarene University (offense)
Mandi Cwynar, Geneva College (defense)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene forward Catherine Hess (Hillsboro, OH) and Geneva goalkeeper Mandi Cwynar (Monaca, PA) have been selected the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week.

Hess, a 5-foot-3 junior, netted four goals in two victories as MVNU clinched their first AMC South Division title in just their fourth varsity season. She scored twice in a 4-1 win at Cedarville and added two more scores in a 3-0 win versus Urbana. Hess has a career-high 14 goals this season with a school-record 13 assists.

Cwynar, a 5-6 senior, posted two victories for playoff-bound Geneva. She made four saves in a 3-1 win versus North Division foe Carlow. She made five saves in a 2-1 double overtime victory at Ohio Dominican.

Kristen Votapek, Mount Vernon Nazarene University (offense)
Krysti Wilson, Mount Vernon Nazarene University (defense)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene teammates Kristen Votapek (Amelia, OH) and Krysti Wilson (Sunbury, OH) have been named the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week. The tandem paced the Cougars to a pair of key South Division victories.

Votapek, a 5-foot-3 sophomore forward, was tabbed the top offensive player after scoring three of MVNU's five goals on the week. She scored twice in a 3-0 win at Ohio Dominican and added another in a 2-1 decision over Tiffin.

Wilson, a 5-8 freshman goalkeeper, is the defensive player of the week. She made eight saves while posting her school-record 12th shutout at Ohio Dominican. Wilson stopped four shots in the win against Tiffin.

Savannah Rennels, Seton Hill University (offense)
Jessica Votaw, Shawnee State University (defense)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Seton Hill forward Savannah Rennels (Rector, PA) and Shawnee State goalkeeper Jessica Votaw (Salem, OH) are the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week.

Rennels, a 5-foot-6 senior, scored three goals in a 4-3 victory over AMC North Division foe Roberts Wesleyan. She leads the league in goals scored with 24 in 13 matches for a 1.85 per game average.

Votaw, a 5-6 junior, stopped 12 shots as Shawnee State surprised host and AMC South Division leader Ohio Dominican, 2-0, for the Bears' first league win. She also made five saves in a 2-0 non-conference victory against Kentucky Christian.

Hannah Toth, Houghton College (offense)
Leta Huntington, Malone College (defense)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Houghton forward Hannah Toth (Victor, NY) and Malone midfielder Leta Huntington (Cuyahoga Falls, OH) have been selected the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week.

Toth, a 5-foot-6 senior, had a goal and six assists to lead the NAIA No. 10 Highlanders to a pair of AMC North Division victories. She recorded an assist in a 7-0 at Roberts Wesleyan and then tallied a goal with a school-record five assists during a 17-1 decision over Carlow.

Huntington, a 5-7 senior, played a key role in Malone's fourth consecutive shutout - a 4-0 victory over Urbana. She helped the Pioneers limit the Blue Knights to three shots on goal.

(September 28 - October 4)
Aimee Legault, Roberts Wesleyan College (offense)
Nicole Drenth, Roberts Wesleyan College (defense)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Roberts Wesleyan teammates Aimee Legault (Pointe-Claire, Ontario) and Nicole Drenth (Washingtonville, NY) are the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week. They helped the Raiders to a 1-0-1 week.

Legault, a 5-foot-6 freshman forward, is the Offensive Player of the Week. She scored three more goals in a 6-0 victory over Daemen in an AMC North Division match and added a goal in a 1-1 tie versus Tiffin.

Drenth, a 5-8 freshman defender, earned the top defensive player honors. Besides anchoring a defense that allowed one goal in 200 minutes of action, she produced three assists in the win versus Daemen and assisted on the lone goal of a 1-1 tie against Tiffin.

Laurie Franklin, Malone College (defense)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene forward Kristen Votapek (Amelia, OH) and Malone goalkeeper Laurie Franklin (Prospect, KY) are the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week.

Votapek, a 5-foot-3 sophomore, netted three goals to lead unbeaten Mount Vernon Nazarene to two more wins. She scored once in a 2-1 win at Geneva and added two more goals in a 3-0 decision over Cumberland KY. Votapek has scored in nine of the Cougars' ten matches this year and increased her school-record career total to 43 goals in less than two full seasons.

Franklin, a junior, did not allow a goal in two appearances for Malone. She recorded four saves in 78 minutes of a 5-1 win at NCAA Division III Heidelberg. Franklin made 13 saves in a 0-0 double-overtime contest at AMC South Division foe Tiffin.

Krysti Wilson, Mount Vernon Nazarene University (defense)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Houghton forward Hannah Toth (Victor, NY) and Mount Vernon Nazarene goalkeeper Krysti Wilson (Sunbury) have been selected the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week.

Toth, a 5-foot-6 senior, netted four goals with three assists as the NAIA No. 12 Highlanders won two more matches. She scored three goals with an assist in a 10-0 AMC North Division victory at Daemen and had a goal and two assists in a 9-0 win at Green Mountain.

Wilson, a 5-8 freshman, posted two more shutouts and has eight total in her first eight collegiate matches. She had eight saves during a 2-0 victory over NCAA Division III Wooster and made 10 saves in a 5-0 AMC South Division win at Shawnee State.

Kristen Votapek, Mount Vernon Nazarene University (offense)
Cheryl Balogh, Mount Vernon Nazarene University (defense)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene teammates Kristen Votapek and Cheryl Balogh are the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week. It's the second straight week that a pair of Cougar teammates have earned the honor.

Votapek, a sophomore forward from Amelia, OH, was named MVP of the Mount Vernon Nazarene Classic after leading the hosts to a pair of 1-0 victories over Olivet Nazarene and Siena Heights. She scored the lone goal in the championship match versus Siena Heights and is one shy of tying the school record of 37 career goals.

Balogh, a senior defender from Lima, OH, was named to the all-tournament team. She has anchored MVNU's defense which has not allowed a goal this season and their 6-0 start is the best in the program's four-year history.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene teammates Kristen Votapek and Krysti Wilson are the first AMC women's soccer Players of the Week for the 2003 season. They kept the Cougars unbeaten with two more victories.

Votapek, a sophomore forward from Amelia, OH, scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Trinity International. She had two more in a 6-0 decision against Oberlin. Votapek is just two goals shy of the MVNU career record.

Wilson, a freshman goalkeeper from Sunbury, OH, posted two more shutouts and has four in four matches. She made nine saves total in the two outings.
