CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Tiffin forward Rachel Garofolo (Columbia, OH) and Mount Vernon Nazarene goalkeeper Krysti Wilson (Sunbury, OH) are the AMC women’s soccer Players of the Week.

Garofolo, a 5-foot-7 sophomore, netted five goals in a pair of wins for Tiffin. She scored twice in a 4-1 decision over Urbana and then tallied three times in a 4-0 win versus Saint Vincent in the AMC Qualifying Tournament.

Wilson, a 5-8 sophomore, extended her shutout streak to four straight matches and eight overall with a pair of wins. She had nine saves as MVNU wrapped up the AMC South Division title with a 3-0 victory at Malone. Wilson stopped eight shots in a 4-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan in the AMC Qualifying Tournament.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Malone forward Julie Herbst (Dyer, IN) and Mount Vernon Nazarene defender Samantha Tomlinson (Tipp CIty, OH) have been selected the AMC women’s soccer Players of the Week.

Herbst, a 5-foot-7 sophomore, scored eight goals and tallied one assist to lead Malone to three victories. She exploded for five goals and an assist in a 8-0 win versus Shawnee State; scored once in a 2-0 decision at Southern Virginia; and then netted two goals, including the winner in overtime, of a 2-1 victory against Ohio Dominican.

Tomlinson, a 5-3 freshman, played every minute of back-to-back 3-0 shutouts versus Ohio Dominican and Saint Vincent which allowed Mount Vernon Nazarene to equal their school-record winning streak of 11 in a row. She cleared a ball off the goal line to preserve the shutout against ODU and had one assist in the Saint Vincent match.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Houghton forward Bethany Kowalczyk (Waterford, PA) and Mount Vernon Nazarene goalkeeper Krysti Wilson (Sunbury, OH) have been named the AMC women’s soccer Players of the Week.

Kowalczyk, a 5-foot-9 freshman, scored three goals and handed out two assists as unbeaten Houghton won two more times. She had a goal and two assists in a 4-0 win versus Tennessee Wesleyan, and then she scored both goals in a 2-0 victory at Milligan. Kowalczyk has scored a point in all 13 matches this fall and has netted at least one goal in 12 of those contests.

Wilson, a 5-8 sophomore, repeated as the defensive player of the week after helping MVNU to a pair of road victories. She made five saves in a 2-0 win at Urbana for her fourth shutout of the season. Wilson stopped seven shots during a 3-2 overtime decision at Tiffin which was the Cougars’ ninth straight win.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene teammates Catherine Hess (Hillsboro, OH) and Krysti Wilson (Sunbury, OH) have been selected the AMC women’s soccer Players of the Week after leading the Cougars to a 2-0 week. Hess was also tabbed NAIA National Player of the Week.

Hess, a 5-foot-3 senior forward, repeated as the offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals with three assists. She had two goals and two assists in a 4-1 win versus Cedarville to go along with a goal and an assist in a 2-1 victory over Walsh. Already the school’s career points leader, Hess became MVNU’s all-time leader in goals scored with 61 breaking the old record of 58. She has scored at least one point in 16 consecutive matches.

Wilson, a 5-8 sophomore goalkeeper, played all 180 minutes of two AMC South Division victories. She stopped four shots versus Cedarville and made nine saves against Walsh, whose only goal against her was an own goal.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene forward Catherine Hess (Hillsboro, OH) and Geneva goalkeeper Erin Scanlon (Okeana, OH) have been named the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week.

Hess, a 5-foot-3 senior, paced Mount Vernon Nazarene to two victories and tied the school record for the most goals scored in a career. She played a role in five out of six Cougar goals on the week by scoring twice and adding one assist in a 4-2 victory at Union KY; and she netted a goal with one assist in a 2-1 win versus Milligan. Hess, who is already MVNU’s all-time leader in points, has 58 goals and 42 assists for 158 career points. She has scored at least one point in a school-record 14 consecutive matches.

Scanlon, a 5-8 sophomore, posted back-to-back shutouts for her first two collegiate victories in goal. She made six saves in a 3-0 AMC North Division win at Notre Dame and then came up with four saves in a 1-0 victory against Ohio Dominican.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Saint Vincent forward Nicole Mannella (Jeannette, PA) and Tiffin goalkeeper Tracy Shannon (Columbus, OH) are the AMC women’s soccer Players of the Week.

Mannella, a 5-foot-9 freshman, scored five goals and had two assists to pace Saint Vincent to a 3-0 week. She produced two goals and two assists in a 5-1 decision versus NCAA Division II Clarion; scored twice in a 3-1 victory at Ohio Dominican; and added one more goal in a 3-1 win versus Daemen.

Shannon, a 5-9 senior, posted back-to-back shutouts in Tiffin’s 2-0 week. She made nine saves in a 1-0 victory at NCAA Division III Otterbein and then was credited with 10 saves in a 3-0 win at Cedarville in an AMC South Division match.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Malone forward Julie Herbst (Dyer, IN) and Cedarville goalkeeper Jessica Balser (St. Paris, OH) are the AMC Players of the Week in women’s soccer.

Herbst, a 5-foot-4 sophomore, scored five goals and handed out two assists to lead Malone to three victories. She had two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win versus Notre Dame; scored both goals in a 2-1 decision over Saint Vincent; and recorded one goal with one assist in a 4-0 victory against Grace.

Balser, a 5-8 senior, posted back-to-back shutouts to help Cedarville extend their unbeaten streak to four straight. She stopped four shots in a 4-0 win versus Ohio Dominican in an AMC South Division match. Balser also made two saves in a 0-0 tie against Indiana Wesleyan.

Jane Adams, Cedarville (offense)
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville forward Jane Adams (South Hadley, MA) is the AMC women's soccer Player of the Week.

Adams, a 5-foot-8 senior had three goals and two assists to lead the Lady Jackets to a pair of victories. She scored the first goal of the match in a 3-2 win versus Earlham, and then tallied two goals and two assists in a 5-0 decision at Grace. In the process, Adams became the school's all-time leader in goals (36), assists (30), and points (102).

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Tiffin forward Niquita Amirkhanian (Barrie, Ontario) and Ohio Dominican goalkeeper Michal Stimson (Grove City, OH) are the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week.

Amirkhanian, a 5-foot-7 forward, had two goals and two assists in a 6-0 win versus Notre Dame. She added two more goals in a 5-2 victory at Daemen for the Dragons, 2-0. Amirkhanian was also chosen the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week.

Stimson, a 5-9 junior, made eight saves in a 1-0 overtime win versus Case Western Reserve. She also stopped seven shots in a 1-0 setback versus Otterbein.
