2005 Players of the Week

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville teammates Luke Marietta (Mansfield, OH) and Ken Davis (San Antonio, TX) are the AMC Players of the Week in men's soccer. They were instrumental in the Yellow Jackets' 2-1 victory over Ohio Dominican in the AMC Qualifying Tournament.
Marietta, a six-foot senior goalkeeper, earned the defensive honor after registering four saves in the match. His first one came midway through the first half when he stopped a penalty kick to preserve a 0-0 tie at the time. Marietta was also tabbed the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week.
Davis, a 5-9 sophomore forward, headed in the game-winning goal three minutes into overtime for his sixth score of the season to garner offensive player recognition. The Yellow Jackets have won five straight matches since dropping a 2-1 regular season decision at ODU.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene forward Josh Van Pelt (Maryville, TN) and Cedarville goalkeeper Luke Marietta (Mansfield, OH) have been selected the AMC men's soccer Players of the Week.
Van Pelt, a 5-foot-6 junior, scored four goals with two assists during MVNU's 2-0 week. He netted three goals in a 5-1 decision versus Saint Vincent before registering a goal and two assists in a 5-1 victory at Shawnee State. Van Pelt was also tabbed the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week.
Marietta, a six-foot senior, posted back-to-back shutouts to match Cedarville's single-season school record with eight. He made five saves in a 4-0 victory at Tiffin and then had four more in a 3-0 win versus Walsh.

Andrew Zeller, Walsh (defense)
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Houghton midfielder Andy Walton (Emmaus, PA) and Walsh defender Andrew Zeller (Strongsville, OH) are the AMC men's soccer Players of the Week.
Walton, a 5-foot-8 senior, had four goals and one assist to lead Houghton to a pair of AMC North Division victories. He scored twice in a 6-0 decision at Point Park before coming back with two goals and one assist in a 5-1 win over Geneva.
Zeller, a 6-2 senior, paced Walsh to a 2-0 week on both ends of the field. After the Cavs edged Geneva, 2-1, he scored the lone goal in a 1-0 AMC South Division victory at Mount Vernon Nazarene.

Andy Moore, Rio Grande (defense)
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Geneva forward H.P. McCracken (Beaver Falls, PA) and Rio Grande goalkeeper Andy Moore (Manchester, England) are the AMC men's soccer Players of the Week.
McCracken, a 5-foot-9 junior, had three goals and an assist as Geneva split two matches. He scored the Golden Tornadoes' goal in a 2-1 setback to NCAA Division II Wheeling Jesuit before netting two goals with an assist in an 8-1 win over AMC North Division foe Point Park. McCracken is also the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week.
Moore, a six-foot sophomore, was credited with back-to-back shutouts in two AMC South Division road victories for NAIA No. 2 Rio Grande. He made one save which was a diving stop at Cedarville to preserve a 2-0 victory. Moore also had a save in a 1-0 decision at Malone for his fourth shutout of the year. Rio has won 103 straight regular matches dating back to the 2000 season.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Saint Vincent forward Dave Suski (Donora, PA) and Houghton goalkeeper Erik Lefebvre (Ottawa, Ontario) are the AMC men's soccer Players of the Week.
Suski, a 6-foot-2 senior, played a part in all four Saint Vincent goals in two AMC North Division victories. He scored twice with one assist in a 3-0 win at Daemen, and netted the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Seton Hill. Suski, who was also the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week, became the first player in school history to score 50 career goals.
Lefebvre, a 6-4 freshman, stopped seven of eight shots that he faced to guide Houghton to a pair of victories. He made four saves in a 2-1 victory at Roberts Wesleyan and had three saves in a 2-0 win versus Walsh.

Conar Dawson, Rio Grande (offense)

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Rio Grande midfielder Conar Dawson (Belfast, Northern Ireland) and Cedarville goalkeeper Luke Marietta (Mansfield, OH) have been named the AMC men's soccer Players of theWeek.
Dawson, a 6-foot-2 junior who was also chosen the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week, netted two goals with an assist to lead unbeaten and NAIA No. 2 Rio Grande to two more victories. He had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 decision versus Ohio Dominican. Dawson also scored a goal in a 2-1 victory at No. 20 Walsh in a match the Redmen tied with seven minutes left in regulation and later won in overtime.
Marietta, a six-foot senior, was credited with a pair of shutouts in AMC South Division action to up his season total to five. He helped shut down Urbana 3-0 before playing all 98 minutes and making five saves in a 1-0 overtime victory at Malone.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene goalkeeper Jordan Knight (Kentwood, MI) and Walsh forward Greg Keller (Napolean, OH) have been chosen the AMC men’s soccer Players of the Week.
Knight, a 6-foot-2 junior who was also selected the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week, posted back-to-back shutouts in two AMC South Division matches. He made six saves in a 3-0 win versus Tiffin and stopped two shots in a 2-0 decision at Ohio Dominican.
Keller, a six-foot sophomore, figured into all but one goal in Walsh’s 5-0 victory at Urbana in an AMC South Division match. He scored three goals and was credited with one assist.

Chris O'Hearn, Geneva (defense)
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Roberts Wesleyan midfielder Mark Howlett (Portsmouth, England) and Geneva goalkeeper Chris O'Hearn (Wichita, KS) are the AMC men's soccer Players of the Week.
Howlett, a 5-foot-9 sophomore who was also chosen the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week, scored all six Roberts Wesleyan goals as the Raiders split two matches. He notched the “hat trick” in a 3-0 win versus Cornerstone and netted three again in a 4-3 setback to Missouri Baptist.
O'Hearn, a 6-2 freshman, played all 180 minutes and stopped 22 of 25 shots for Geneva. He made 13 saves in a 3-2 overtime win against Saint Vincent to open AMC North Division play. He also had nine saves in a 1-0 setback to Malone.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Geneva forward H.P. McCracken (Beaver Falls, PA) and Walsh defender Kevin Hadley (Norton, OH) are the AMC men's soccer Players of the Week.
McCracken, a 5-foot-9 junior, scored three goals for his first career hat trick in a 5-0 win over Pitt-Greensburg. He also tallied an assist in a 2-1 victory against Urbana. McCracken was also tabbed the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week.
Hadley, a 5-10 senior, netted the first goal of the match in a 3-0 decision versus Siena Heights. He also keyed the Cavs' defense in a 1-1 tie against NAIA No. 24 Judson.
(Aug. 29 - Sept. 4)
Josh Van Pelt, Mount Vernon Nazarene (offense)
Chris Logan, Notre Dame (defense)
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Notre Dame goalkeeper Chris Logan (Stone, England) and Mount Vernon Nazarene forward Josh Van Pelt (Maryville, TN) have been named the AMC Players of the Week in men's soccer. They are the first choices for the 2005 campaign.
Logan, a senior who also garnered NAIA Region IX Player of the Week honors, picked up the AMC's defensive award after posting back-to-back shutouts to keep Notre Dame unbeaten at 3-0. He stopped three shots in a 2-0 victory over Cedarville and made three more saves in a 1-0 decision at NCAA Division II Wheeling Jesuit. He has not allowed a goal in three games this season.
Van Pelt, a 5-foot-6 junior, tallied three goals and two assists to lead Mount Vernon Nazarene to its own invitational title. The Tournament MVP netted two goals and an assist in a 6-0 win versus Northland Baptist Bible. In a 2-0 finals victory over Grace, he scored the game's first goal and assisted on the other.
