(Feb. 20-26)
Tara Walker, Shawnee State
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Shawnee State center Tara Walker (Hillsboro, OH) has been selected the AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. The 6-foor-1 senior averaged 24 points and seven rebounds to pace the NAIA Division II No. 10 Bears to two wins in the AMC/NAIA Qualifying Tournament.

Walker had 16 points and seven rebounds in a 71-51 win versus Malone before firing in 32 points with seven boards in an 83-67 decision over Geneva. She shot 63 percent from the field and 59 percent at the line to go along with four assists and a blocked shot.

Beth Sternberg, Walsh
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Walsh guard Beth Sternberg (East Canton, OH) has been selected the AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. The 5-foot-3 senior averaged 17.3 points per game to lead the Cavaliers to a 3-0 week to close out the regular season.

Sternberg had 16 points and four steals during a 73-53 victory over Ohio Dominican and then scored 20 points in a 62-57 win at Tiffin to secure a first-round home playoff game for the Cavs. She finished the week with 16 points in a 70-63 upset over NAIA Division II No. 8 Shawnee State to avenge a 40-point loss earlier in the season to the Bears.

For the week, Sternberg shot 45 percent from the field overall, converted 8-of-16 three-pointers for 50 percent, and was 10-for-13 at the line for 77 percent. She contributed eight rebounds, six steals, and one assist.

Judy Wright, Roberts Wesleyan
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Roberts Wesleyan guard Judy Wright (Syracuse, NY) has been named the AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. The 5-foot-7 senior paced the Raiders to three victories by averaging 39 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.

Wright poured in all 35 of her points in the second half of an 83-76 win versus Houghton; she totaled 43 points and 10 rebounds in an 80-75 victory at Daemen; and then finished her week with 39 points and 13 boards in an 89-56 win at Carlow.

For the week, Wright made 47-of-90 shots from the field for 52 percent, 11-of-20 three-pointers for 52 percent, and 12-of-19 free throws for 63 percent. She added 29 rebounds, 13 assists, 10 steals, and a blocked shot.

Judy Wright, Roberts Wesleyan
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Roberts Wesleyan guard Judy Wright (Syracuse, NY) is the AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. The 5-foot-7 senior averaged 35.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in two victories.

Wright netted 36 points with 13 rebounds and six assists in a 77-60 win over Daemen. She followed that effort with 35 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in a 69-68 victory at Ursuline.

For the week, Wright was 25-of-62 from the field for 40 percent, 10-of-21 outside the arc for 48 percent, and 11-of-16 at the charity stripe for 69 percent. She also added eight steals.

Brittany Smart, Cedarville
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Cedarville University guard Brittany Smart (Springfield, OH) has been named the AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. She was also selected the NAIA Division II National Player of the Week for the second time this season. The 5-foot-9 junior averaged 38.5 points per game in leading the NAIA Division II No. 2 Lady Jackets to a pair of victories.

Smart opened with 33 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals in a 75-69 victory at No. 7 Shawnee State. She then scored a school-record 44 points with eight rebounds and three steals in an 88-79 win versus Mount Vernon Nazarene. In that game, Smart became the fastest player in school history, men's or women's, to surpass 2,000 career points and she currently ranks fourth on CU's all-time scoring list with 2,018 points.

For the week, Smart made 28-of-56 shots from the field for 50 percent, hit 7-of-17 treys for 41 percent, and converted all 14 of her free throws. She added 16 rebounds, five assists, five steals, and one blocked shot.

Germany Jackson, Daemen
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Daemen guard Germany Jackson (Buffalo, NY) has been selected the AMC Player of the Week in women's basketball. The 5-foot-10 junior averaged 25.7 points and 6.7 rebounds as the Lady Wildcats rolled to a 3-0 week.

Jackson opened with 21 points and seven steals in an 80-70 overtime win versus Houghton; she totaled 25 points, eight boards, and six assists in a 104-83 decision over Carlow; and then finished her week with a career-high 31 points and seven rebounds in a 65-61 victory against Saint Vincent.

For the week, Jackson was 32-of-58 from the field for 55 percent and 11-of-14 at the charity stripe for 79 percent. She added 20 rebounds, 16 steals, 15 assists, and three blocks.

Brittany Smart, Cedarville
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Cedarville guard Brittany Smart (Springfield, OH) is the AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. The 5-foot-9 junior averaged 31 points and 9.3 rebounds per game in three victories for the Lady Jackets, ranked No. 3 in NAIA Division II.

Smart opened with a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds in a 66-61 win at Urbana. She had 31 points, six rebounds, and five assists during a 92-76 victory at Rio Grande. She finished the week with a school-record 43 points, including 27 in the second half, and pulled down eight boards in a 101-87 win versus Ohio Dominican.

For the week, Smart made 29-of-58 shots from the field for 50 percent, hit 5-of-16 three-pointers for 31 percent, and converted 30-of-35 free throws for 86 percent. She added 28 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.

Judy Wright, Roberts Wesleyan
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Roberts Wesleyan guard Judy Wright (Syracuse, NY) has been chosen the AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. The 5-foot-7 senior, who was also tabbed the NAIA Division II National Player of the Week, averaged 37 points per game as the Raiders split two games.

Wright totaled 29 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and five steals in a 73-51 win versus Saint Vincent. She then erupted for a school-record 45 points in a 67-65 setback to Seton Hill. For the week, Wright shot 40 percent from the field and 63 percent at the line to go along with 15 rebounds, seven assists, six steals, and two blocks.

Brittany Smart, Cedarville
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Cedarville guard Brittany Smart (Springfield, OH) is the NAIA Division II National and AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. The 5-foot-9 junior averaged 31.5 points and was named Tournament MVP after the NAIA Division II No. 2 Lady Jackets went 1-1 at The Master's Challenge in California.

Smart racked up a tournament record 40 points in an 88-85 loss to NAIA Division I No. 7 Master's which was one-point shy of the CU school record that she shares. She came back with 23 points to help the Jackets rally from a 14-point deficit to defeat NAIA Division I Fresno Pacific, 73-61.

Smart shot 59 percent from the field, made 8-of-13 three-pointers for 62 percent, and converted 11-of-15 free throws for 85 percent. She added 13 rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and a blocked shot. Smart also set tournament two-game records for most points scored (63) and most field goals made (22).

Kelly Wagner, Shawnee State
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Shawnee State guard Kelly Wagner (Bloomdale, OH) is the AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. The 5-foot-9 freshman scored a career-high 17 points as the NAIA Division II No. 6 Bears edged NAIA Division I No. 25 Cumberlands KY, 73-71, in overtime.

Wagner missed only three shots total in the game. She was 7-for-9 from the field and 3-for-4 at the charity stripe. She added four rebounds and one assist.

Shawnee State center Tara Walker (Hillsboro, OH) has been selected the AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. The 6-foot-1 senior averaged 22.0 points per game to pace the NAIA Division II No. 6 Bears to a pair of victories.

Walker produced a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds in a 92-75 win versus Notre Dame, who is receiving votes in the national poll. She came back with 22 points in a 71-64 decision over NAIA Division II No. 15 Saint Francis IN.

For the week, Walker made 19-of-29 shots from the field for 66 percent and was 6-for-10 at the charity stripe for 60 percent. She contributed 12 rebounds, four blocks, three assists, and two steals.

Allison Depp, Daemen
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Daemen center Allison Depp (Lockport, NY) has been named the AMC Player of the Week in women's basketball.

Depp, a six-foot junior, scored a career-high 38 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Lady Wildcats to a 95-77 victory over Notre Dame, who entered the game receiving votes in the NAIA Division II national poll and leading the AMC North Division. She made 17-of-24 shots from the field and 4-for-6 free throws to go along with six blocks and two assists.

Brittany Smart, Cedarville
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Cedarville guard Brittany Smart (Springfield, OH) is the AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. The 5-foot-9 junior averaged 29.0 points to lead the NAIA Division II No. 5 Lady Jackets to a 2-1 week against three NAIA opponents who were either ranked or receiving votes in the national rankings.

Smart produced a double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds in an 89-71 AMC South Division victory over Rio Grande. She totaled 35 points, seven boards, and seven assists in a 97-93 setback at NAIA Division I No. 8 Georgetown. She finished her week with 25 points, six rebounds, and six assists during an 84-69 decision against NAIA Division I Lindsey Wilson.

Smart shot 57 percent from the field overall for the week, nailed 11-of-20 three-pointers for 55 percent, and hit all six of her free throws. She added 14 assists and seven steals.

Jamie King, Notre Dame
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Notre Dame post player Jamie King (Lorain, OH) is the AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. The 6-foot-2 senior led the Falcons to a 3-0 week, which included the Marietta Tournament championship, by averaging 14.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

King, who comes off the bench, opened with nine points and a team-high eight rebounds in a key 74-73 AMC North Division win versus Roberts Wesleyan. At Marietta, she had 21 points and eight boards in a 76-67 victory over Ohio Wesleyan and 12 points and 12 rebounds in a 66-57 decision against the host Pioneers. King was named Tournament MVP.

For the week, King made 20-of-36 shots from the field for 56 percent and 2-of-3 free throws. She added three blocks, one assist, and one steal.

Judy Wright, Roberts Wesleyan
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Roberts Wesleyan guard Judy Wright (Syracuse, NY) has been named the AMC women's basketball Player of the Week. The 5-foot-7 senior led the Raiders to a 3-0 week, was named MVP of the Malone Tournament, and became her school's all-time leading scorer with 1,819 points.

Wright had 30 points in a 102-45 win over Michigan-Dearborn, 32 during a 67-49 defeat of Nyack, and 27 in a 73-69 victory against Malone. She totaled 22 rebounds, 14 assists, and 11 steals while shooting 47 percent from the field, 36 percent outside the arc, and 64 percent at the line.

Britney Walker, Rio Grande
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Rio Grande guard Britney Walker (Cleveland, OH) has been named the first AMC Player of the Week in women's basketball for the 2005-06 campaign.

Walker, a 5-foot-7 guard, averaged 18.5 points and seven rebounds in victories over Saint Vincent and Seton Hill. She made 12-of-23 shots from the field for 52 percent and converted 13-of-18 free throws for 72 percent. Walker added four steals and one assist.
