2005 Players of the Week

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Houghton forward Bethany Kowalczyk (Waterford, PA) and Malone defender Amanda Zabukovec (Brunswick, OH) have been selected the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week.
Kowalczyk, a 5-foot-9 sophomore, played a role in all four goals for the NAIA No. 2 Highlanders in a 4-1 victory over Ohio Dominican in the NAIA Region IX Tournament. She scored three goals with one assist in the match and was also named the region Player of the Week.
Zabukovec, a 5-8 junior, helped Malone to their sixth shutout of the season in a 2-0 victory at Mount Vernon Nazarene in the NCCAA East Region championship match. The outcome avenged a 4-0 loss for the Pioneers on MVNU's field just 11 days earlier.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Ohio Dominican forward Jen Burgei (Ottoville, OH) and Tiffin defender Melissa Ford (Sylvania, OH) are the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week.
Burgei, a 5-foot-5 freshman, scored all three goals for South Division No. 3 seed Ohio Dominican in a 3-0 win at No. 2 Mount Vernon Nazarene in the AMC Qualifying Tournament. The rookie was also chosen the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week.
Ford, a 5-8 junior, helped the Tiffin defense notch back-to-back shutouts in a 3-0 win against Rio Grande and a 1-0 decision over Walsh in the AMC Qualifying Tournament. The Dragons also won the AMC South Division championship.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Ohio Dominican forward Jen Burgei (Ottoville, OH) and Roberts Wesleyan defender Nicole Drenth (Washingtonville, NY) have been named the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week.
Burgei, a 5-foot-5 freshman, tallied four goals and an assist to lead ODU to a pair of key AMC South Division victories. She scored one goal and assisted on the game winner in overtime of a 2-1 decision versus Mount Vernon Nazarene. Burgei, who is also the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week, came back with three goals in a 4-2 win at Malone.
Drenth, a 5-8 junior, had an assist and scored the goal that forced overtime in a 3-2 setback to NAIA No. 3 Houghton. She scored again and help limit Ursuline to just two shots in a 5-1 victory.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Houghton teammates Bethany Kowalczyk (Waterford, PA) and Meghan Radimer (Branchville, NJ) have been selected the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week.
Kowalczyk, a 5-foot-9 sophomore forward, was chosen the offensive player of the week after scoring all three goals in two victories at the Virginia Intermont tournament. She scored twice in a 2-0 win over the host school and added the lone goal for the NAIA No. 5 Highlanders in a 1-0 decision versus No. 3 Martin Methodist. Kowalczyk, who is also the NAIA National Player of the Week and NAIA Region IX Player of the Week, has already scored 50 goals in her brief career.
Radimer, a 5-9 junior goalkeeper, was credited with both shutouts and earned defensive player of the week honors. She made six saves against Virginia Intermont and five versus Martin Methodist. Radimer has 11 shutouts this season.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Geneva forward Rebecca Stewart (Silver Spring, MD) and Saint Vincent goalkeeper Abby Chabitnoy (Anville, PA) have been selected the AMC Players of the Week in women's soccer.
Stewart, a 5-foot-5 senior, had a goal and an assist in a 2-2 tie with Roberts Wesleyan. She also had two goals with an assist in a 5-1 win versus Ursuline. Stewart, who is the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week, moved into second place on Geneva's all-time goals scored list with 58.
Chabitnoy, a 5-8 freshman, made three saves in a 4-0 AMC North Division win over Roberts Wesleyan. She also had one save in a 2-1 decision against Myers.

Rachel Garofolo, Tiffin (offense)
Krysti Wilson, Mount Vernon Nazarene (defense)
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Tiffin forward Rachel Garofolo (Columbia, OH) and Mount Vernon Nazarene goalkeeper Krysti Wilson (Sunbury, OH) are the AMC Players of the Week in women's soccer.
Garofolo, a 5-foot-7 junior, scored both goals as Tiffin rallied in the second half to nip Cedarville, 2-1. She also recorded two goals and an assist in a 3-1 win versus Ohio Dominican. For her efforts, Garofolo was also chosen the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week.
Wilson, a 5-8 junior, helped MVNU extend its winning streak to six matches in a row with a pair of shutouts. She made four saves in a 2-0 AMC South Division victory against Urbana and was credited with six saves in a 3-0 non-conference decision versus Grace.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Walsh midfielder Abby Swope (Wadsworth, OH) and Tiffin goalkeeper Jen Rosselit (Ottawa, OH) are the AMC women’s soccer Players of the Week.
Swope, a 5-foot-7 sophomore who was also tabbed the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week, tallied four goals and two assists to lead Walsh to a pair of wins. She netted a goal with an assist in a 4-0 victory over Notre Dame. Swope also had three goals and an assist during a 9-0 shutout versus Shawnee State.
Rosselit, a 5-9 junior, came up with seven saves for Tiffin in a 2-0 win over Malone in a match between NAIA Region IX Top 5 teams. It was her second shutout of the season.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene forward Kristy Brandolini (Twinsburg, OH) and Tiffin defender Maura Craig (Norwood, OH) have been selected the AMC Players of the Week in women's soccer.
Brandolini, a 5-foot-2 sophomore, played a part in all five goals during MVNU's 2-0 week. She had the lone goal in a 1-0 win versus Saint Vincent and scored three times with an assist in a 4-1 victory at Shawnee State in AMC South Division play. Brandolini was also chosen the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week.
Craig, a 5-7 senior, played a key role in helping Tiffin improve to 5-2 with a pair of wins. The Dragons allowed just one goal on the week which came in a 3-1 decision against Roberts Wesleyan. TU also shut down NCAA Division II Findlay, 3-0.

Jamie Hickton, Seton Hill (defense)
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Daemen forward Kim Walker (Grand Island, NY) and Seton Hill goalkeeper Jamie Hickton (Bethel Park, PA) have been selected the AMC women's soccer Players of the Week.
Walker, a 5-foot-5 junior, erupted for eight goals and two assists during the Lady Wildcats' 3-0 week. She scored in the 89th minute of a 1-0 victory at Alfred. She tallied four goals in a 9-1 rout of Mount St. Mary and had three goals with two assists in a 9-1 decision against New Jersey City. Walker was also chosen the NAIA Region IX Player of the Week.
Hickton, a 5-4 senior, posted back-to-back shutouts to lead Seton Hill to a pair of victories. She made four saves in a 2-0 win over NCAA Division II Clarion and had two saves during a 2-0 decision at Urbana.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene forward Kristy Brandolini (Twinsburg, OH) and Urbana goalkeeper Liz Markley (Springfield, OH) have been named the first AMC women’s soccer Players of the Week for the 2005 season.
Brandolini, a 5-foot-2 sophomore who was also selected the NAIA Region IX and NAIA National Player of the Week, scored four goals in NAIA No. 22 Mount Vernon Nazarene's 5-0 victory at No. 16 Spring Arbor. The output tied the school record for a single game which came in Brandolini's first appearance of the season after she missed the first two games on the schedule.
Markley, a 5-5 junior, allowed one goal in 270 minutes of action for a 0.33 goals against average and two shutouts in Urbana's 2-1 week. She made 12 saves in a 1-0 setback to Indiana Wesleyan, who received votes in the NAIA preseason poll. Markley had one save in a 2-0 AMC South Division win over Rio Grande and made four saves in a 1-0 decision versus Daemen.
