Jake Hjemvic, Geneva College
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Geneva College goalkeeper Jake Hjemvic (Wexford,
PA; North Allegheny H.S.) has been named the AMC men's soccer Player of
the Week. He was algo selected the NAIA Great Lakes Region Player of the
Week after posting back-to-back shutouts to lead the No. 2 seed Golden
Tornadoes to the AMC Tournament championship.
Hjemvic, a 6-foot-3 senior, stopped eight shots in a 1-0 victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene in the AMC semifinals. He came back to make four saves in a 1-0 decision in the final against host and top seed Rio Grande, who entered the match ranked No. 15 in the NAIA. Geneva, 16-5 overall, is part of this week's six-team NAIA Great Lakes Regional.

David Flavius, Ohio Dominican College
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican College forward David Flavius
(Castries, St. Lucia) is the AMC men's soccer Player of the Week after
leading the Panthers to a couple of victories. His week was highlighted by
his third "hat trick" of the season and the 100th goal of his
career.
Flavius, a 5-foot-10 senior, registered one goal and two assists in a 3-1 win at Tiffin. He then scored three goals with an assist in a 9-1 rout over Point Park.
Flavius' third goal against Point Park was No. 100 for his career. He ranks in the NAIA Top 5 all-time in goals scored and points. ODC, 15-3 overall and 7-2 AMC, opens the week seeded No. 3 in the AMC Tournament.

Jake Hjemvic, Geneva College
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Geneva College goalkeeper Jake Hjemvic (Wexford,
PA; North Allegheny H.S.) is the AMC men's soccer Player of the Week. He
was also selected the NAIA Great Lakes Region Player of the Week after
posting three shutout victories.
Hjemvic, a 6-foot-3 senior, stopped 12 shots as Geneva recorded a 2-0 victory at Ohio Dominican, who entered the match ranked No. 24 in the NAIA and tied for first place in the AMC. He also had eight saves in a 3-0 win over Tiffin and four saves in a 6-0 rout against Pittsburgh-Johnstown. The Golden Tornadoes improved to 12-5 overall and 6-2 AMC.

Pat McBrearty, Walsh University
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Walsh University midfielder Pat McBrearty
(Canton, OH; Glen Oak H.S.) has been named the AMC men's soccer Player of
the Week. He had two goals and an assist to pace the Cavaliers to a pair
of AMC wins.
McBrearty, a 5-foot-8 junior, scored twice in a 3-2 overtime win at league-leading Ohio Dominican which ended the Panthers' 11-game winning streak. He netted the game-tying goal with eight minutes left and then scored the winner 13 minutes into overtime. Earlier in the week, McBrearty assisted on one goal in a 3-1 victory over Saint Vincent. Walsh is 8-8 overall and 4-3 AMC.

Simon Lowey, University of Rio Grande

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- University of Rio Grande forward Simon Lowey
(Preston, England) and Ohio Dominican College forward David Flavius
(Castries, St. Lucia) have been named the AMC men's soccer Co-Players of
the Week.
Lowey, a 5-foot-10 senior, recorded four goals and two assists in a pair of AMC wins. He had two goals and two assists in a 5-0 decision over Cedarville, and two goals in a 4-0 victory against Geneva. The Redmen, 10-1-1 overall and 4-0 AMC, are ranked No. 7 in the NAIA.
Flavius, a 5-foot-9 senior, scored four goals to lead Ohio Dominican in two AMC road wins. He netted a goal in a 3-2 win at Malone, and then got the "hat trick" in a 3-1 victory at Mount Vernon Nazarene. ODC, 11-1-1 overall and 4-0 AMC, owns a ten-game winning streak. Flavius has scored a goal in every match this season.

Chris Huff, Malone College
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Malone College midfielder Chris Huff (Jackson,
OH; Jackson H.S.) has been named the AMC men's soccer Player of the Week.
He helped the Pioneers extend their winning streak to six straight matches
with a pair of conference victories on the road.
Huff, a 6-foot-1 junior, scored the gamewinner in a 2-0 win at Walsh in the annual battle of Canton rivals. He also scored a goal and assisted on the other two in a 3-1 victory at Mount Vernon Nazarene. Malone enters the week atop the conference standings at 7-4 overall and 3-0 AMC.

Matt Ogden, University of Rio Grande
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- University of Rio Grande forward Matt Ogden
(Preston, England) is the AMC men's soccer Player of the Week. He scored
four goals to pace the Redmen, who enter the week ranked No. 9 in the
NAIA, to two more victories.
Ogden, a 5-foot-10 junior, highlighted his week with three goals in a 5-0 win at Walsh in Rio's AMC opener. He earlier scored once in a 6-0 victory at Salem-Teikyo. The Redmen are 6-1-1 overall and 1-0 AMC.

Josh Robson, Mount Vernon Nazarene College
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene College forward Josh Robson
(Mansfield, OH; Mansfield Madison H.S.) has been named the NAIA National
Player of the Week after earning AMC and NAIA Great Lakes Region honors.
He racked up five goals and three assists as the Cougars crushed two
opponents by a combined 18-0 score.
Robson, a six-foot sophomore, had one goal and two assists in a 7-0 shutout over Capital. He then netted four goals, all in the first half, and added an assist as MVNC won the first-ever AMC men's soccer match with an 11-0 drubbing of Shawnee State. The Cougars are 5-1 overall and 1-0 AMC.
Robson is the second MVNC player to win NAIA National Player of the Week honors this season. Todd Pearce was the first player recognized for his play during the week of Aug. 30 through Sept. 6.

Simon Lowey, University of Rio Grande
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- University of Rio Grande forward Simon Lowey
(Euxton, England) is the AMC men's soccer Player of the Week. He tallied
two goals and one assist to pace the Redmen to a 4-0 victory at Kenyon,
who entered the match ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division III.
Lowey, a 5-foot-9 senior, who was the conference Player of the Year in both 1995 and 1996, reached the 70-goal plateau for his career. Rio Grande, 3-1 overall, is ranked No. 15 in the NAIA.

Sept. 6)
Todd Pearce, Mount Vernon Nazarene College
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene College midfielder Todd
Pearce (South Amherst, OH; Open Door Christian H.S.) is the first AMC
men's soccer Player of the Week for the 1998 season. He was also named the
NAIA National Player of the Week and the NAIA Great Lakes Region Player of
the Week.
Pearce, a six-foot junior, recorded one goal and three assists in helping the Cougars win their first two matches of the campaign. He netted the game-winning goal in the 55th minute for a 2-1 victory at Saint Francis IN. He then assisted on three scores of 4-0 decision against previously unbeaten Cornerstone in MVNC's home opener.
Pearce became the Cougars' all-time assist leader with 27. The previous record of 26 was held by Hiroto Matsufuji from 1990 through 1993.
